In this episode of Taiste Talks, we tackle the theme of communication between developers and non-developers. As always, the reality is much more nuanced than the stereotypes would lead one to believe.
Here's a cliché that one still hears relatively often: developers find human interaction challenging. However, this statement often neglects the fact that the task of communicating a very specified area of knowledge is not exactly easy in the first place. Moreover, most educational programmes severely fail in preparing us for the complexities of communication before we enter work life. As communication is a skill and not an inherent quality, we all should probably approach it as a lifelong learning process.
Joining us in the studio, we have Elisa Heikura, a workplace coach specialised in teaching communication and team work to the people in the tech industry. She is accompanied by Taiste's Software Developers Tom Laakso and Vladislav Cherkasheninov. All three have interesting, personal stories to share about their respective journeys in becoming better communicators.
